I am a 76 year old retired lecturer (Politics, Economics, Social Policy). I am an agnostic, a committed humanist for whom tolerance and compassion are important values. I am now a vegan, having been a vegetarian for many years mainly because of concern for animal welfare. I enjoy the countryside, walking and travel. My tastes in music (popular and classical) and in literature and in art are quite varied, I appreciate good movies, TV drama and documentaries (history, science, religion, current affairs). And chatting / debating with friends about social and world issues.
I have two children and two grandchildren who live at some distance but enjoy visiting beautiful south Devon and Brixham where I now live..... having moved from Carlisle, on the edge of the Lake District and Scotland, some years ago. My childhood home is Lynton, north Devon.
I am not expecting a perfect match, but at least some empathy with my concerns, interests and some of the causes I support. Intelligence and an enquiring mind I prize highly. She should be open minded, compassionate and tolerant and interested in people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, lifestyles. A good sense of humour, perhaps quirky, would be valuable. Apart from being slim or average, plus not too tall, physical characteristics are not especially significant.
