I am a 49 year old man who is looking for a safe, loving, trusting, intimate relationship. I work as a manager in the Red Cross and also for a mental health charity and live in a house in the north Cotswolds. Before the Red Cross I worked in mental health ( I am still a registered nurse) and public health for many years in the NHS in Shetland and across south-west England. I have been single for 7 years now. I do have three children aged 9, 15 and 17 and they spend just over half their time with their mum and half with me.
I love being outdoors and have 16 beehives, love birds, dry-stone walling and wildlife, growing fruit on my allotment, archaeology and going for walks. I spend most of my holidays in the far west of Cornwall or in Scotland, hill walking. At the moment my children come with me on these although two will shortly become independent and no doubt do their own thing.
I am an OK cook (not great but I do enjoy it) and I eat fish but otherwise no meat. Not bothered if any possible new friend or partner is vegetarian. It matters to me but i also stongly believe in choice. I do enjoy both beer and wine and, whilst not a regular "pub-goer", enjoy occasional evenings out locally.
I also love music-I was 14 in 1977 so I do like punk stuff from around then-Patti Smith, Clash etc-but also modern music and have quite a few much loved Scottish bands and others that I listen to a lot. Also the Waterboys, Johny Cash, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, The Unthanks and King Creosote.
I am not a sports fan (not interested in football etc) but enjoy mucking about with games etc with my friends. Stick a few sticks in the ground an an impromptu game of cricket with friends is always fun,followed by a hill-top picnic.
My friends tell me that I am loyal, protective and caring. I am also a little shy at first but that soon goes.
I have decided to look for a new love now because I have focussed on my children for a long time but do not want to remain on my own and would like to find a partner and love. It is time for me to make a move
