Hello and thanks for taking a look! I hope the photo isn''t too fuzzy. I''m afraid it''s a year old, but it''s the most up to date picture that I have. I haven''t changed much, I don''t think, except I''ve a few more grey hairs!
Long time divorced, I''ve been living alone for many years. I am a very independant and practical person. I love the good things in life if they come my way, and I do tend to go for quality rather than quantity. But I don''t belive I am very materialistic and I''m very conscious of our consumer led society. I try hard not to be lured into wanting things I don''t really need, but temptation sometimes gets the better of me!
My main interest is natural history and I just love anything to do with the natural world. Right now I am watching a TV programme about David Attenborough (long may he reign), reading the book "Born Free" and have just finished the book "An Inconvenient Truth" (terrifying stuff) by Al Gore. Oh, and at the moment I am fostering a lovely cat (except when she brings in worms!) for the RSPCA until they find her a good home.
I''m also interested in science and medicine and am a sucker for any TV programmes showing surgery! I missed my calling in life and would have loved to have been a surgeon (or a vet). The closest I came was in my last job which was in a histology laboratory in a hospital, which may or may not mean anything to you!
Like most of us I enjoy all the usual things, watching TV (but I am VERY selective), going to the cinema, walking and being in the countryside (I am a country girl at heart, and need peace and quiet to keep me sane). I love travelling (you should see my wish list!) and I enjoy a good cup of coffee whilst people watching in the local cafe.
I was very musical in my youth, and used to sing and dance a lot, but the dancing is restricted to weddings and whilst I''m doing the ironing now (!) and I''ve lost the plot a bit on the music side since they took Top of the Pops off the telly! I''d like to rekindle my interest.
I really enjoy good food and eating out (but I''m a pretty basic cook at home). Obviously, a nice glass of wine is almost compulsory, but I''m not a heavy drinker.
I recently gave up my full time job to do a college course in animal care, which is all a bit of a shock to the system! However, learning how to care for pigs, sheep and alpacas is just brilliant and I now have a secret yearning to own a small holding. Oh, and I have to have goats as well!
Personally, I''m usually fairly quiet but I can be very loud if the mood takes me. I can laugh at most things, which doesn''t always go down well as I can be very irreverent! I am very affectionate and passionate, and like to snuggle on the sofa. However, I think I probably need more personal space than most people. I''m very easy going, with a very long fuse. However, there is a bomb on the end!
I like the bedroom windows open at night, I love wood, the Scottish Highlands and the moon. I drive quite slowly, I can''t stand any sort of waste, I loathe mobile phones (yes, I do have one!), and I''m not very house proud (I do not live in squalor, however!). I have no religous belief.
So, if you have a friendly manner, a lovely smile, a happy disposition and are reasonably tall it would be lovely to hear from you. Oh, and if you can cook as well you''ll be half way there!
Long distance relationships are hard work but no matter where you are, if I think we have a chance, then I''m happy to make the effort. I love where I live, but I have no ties here and would consider relocating for the right person.
Well, that''s it!
It would be great to hear from you, but if I don''t I wish you well on the site and with your search.
Jackie
