Having been a long term widower I decided after retiring to move to the French Alps where I bought a chalet in a valley close to Chamonix and I now spend a large part of my life cycling and walking and scrambling in the mountains during the summer and ski-ing and ski touring when the snow arrives.
There are a number of Brits living in the valley who are a great set of friends, very sociable and many, although not all, have outdoor interests.
I''m a vegetarian although I eat fish occasionally and since arriving here have grown my own vegetables although on a much smaller scale than in Northumberland where I''m from originally. I still keep up with events in the UK via radio 4 and TV and with telephone conversations with my elder daughter who with still lives in Northumberland. I have a younger daughter living with her family in Munich and I visit both a couple of times a year.
I read extensively and always have a book or two on the go, like classicFM and in the past went to a number of operas, ENO, Bregenz and once while in Moscow went to see a performance of Oegene Onegin.
I would like to meet someone with similar interests to share the pleasures of this wonderful area, I feel as if I''m on holiday almost all of the time. I hope this potted profile sparks a little interest, thanks.
