What shall I write ? - maybe a little about things that interest me and that will give an idea as to whether we might get on.
I very much enjoy spending time in the countryside - whether it's walking in the country and going to a country pub or wandering along a beach and swimming or climbing mountains. I love Cornwall and St Ives - the light coloured sand and the turquoise water, the seabirds, the changing light on the sea and the waves breaking in the distance.I like wildlife very much. I also love snow and the cosiness of being inside when it's snowing outside. I enjoy travelling and have recently enjoyed trekking in Nepal and being in Kathmandu.
I've recently been learning to ski and last winter skied in Switzerland, Austria and Italy. I loved being in the mountains in the winter and being somewhere with lots of snow.
I used to do evening classes in painting and drawing and would like to return to this. I like eating out - and eating in ! I have a flat with a garden in Camberwell - I like gardening and seeing plants growing through the year .
I like going to the cinema and I mainly enjoy art house films.Some of my favourite films are Paris Texas , Beau Travail , The Ice Storm , Shame , The Graduate , American Beauty and Boyhood. I have a dry and surreal sense of humour. My favourite music is rock and I love the Ramones.
I worked for a long time as a probation officer in South East London and took early retirement in 2012. I've done a lot of personal growth work over the years and I now work part-time as a counsellor in private practice.
I would love to be able to improve my French, Spanish and Italian.
I would like to find a long-term partner to share life with. Maybe we could build a home together, maybe in London or the country, maybe close to the moors or mountains or the sea , and with a garden to grow fruit and vegetables, have cats and golden retrievers ! and have a space for painting and go travelling.
My ideal partner would be warm, easy-going and open-minded but I would like to find someone who is also comfortable talking about their thoughts and feelings and interested in other people's thoughts and feelings. She would like long walks in the countryside .
I guess most people are looking for similar things in a relationship - but being close to someone throws up challenges and I would hope that we could grow together and learn from each other.
