I could start by telling you about my mission to save Patagonian wombats or my training as a Shaman in Vietnam but as I'm a bit of a home-body that would be misleading, even if true. More down-to-earth, I'd love to meet a like-minded partner with whom to go for walks, watch telly, hold hands, grow a fantastic, loving relationship and share in cooking-up (maybe actually building) a cosy eco-home, with open doors to family and friends, somewhere near the UK coast (always fancied a boat) or perhaps further afield in Europe. An allotment, chickens, bees, dog, workshop, community involvement . . . . would all be great. While emphasising 'settling down' I also anticipate travels and wider adventures - but maybe a bit later . . .
Divorced with two OK grown-up daughters, relaxed and easy-going, fairly fit, tall and healthy but not particularly sporty, I have dark brown eyes and, formerly, dark brown hair too. I believe in helping others, healing the planet, defending the innocent, questioning ourselves and constant curiosity and learning. Sounds a bit serious? Simpler pleasures include laughing as much as possible, lie-ins, good coffee, smelly cheese, log fires, camping, exploring and getting lost, renovating furniture, chatting with total strangers and the 'masculine arts' including bread and marmalade making (really) And I'll pick up and start reading more books and newspapers than it's possible to finish. I can also murder French (the language, that is) and would love the chance to regularly practice. I reckon I might improve to about lésions corporelles graves (GBH) level.
I am drawn to sensitive, unflashy women who are physically fit (long walks on the beach rather than hectic sprints up mountains), tactile, practical, funny, creative, curious about the world we live in, reflective, with worked out beliefs and values, non-judgmental, with generosity of spirit, a sense of fairness and a good helping of social conscience. Well, one of us has to have one!
Following what you might call a portfolio career in research, teaching and nursing/ social care, I made a complete change (long story) ten years ago and now satisfy my practical urges by doing house renovations. What else. Well, gardening has always provided endless enjoyment - especially the propagation bit and, at the opposite end of the scale, landscaping. I love those Moorish gardens with little streams. As for music I enjoy classical, folk and independent singer-songwriters. Similar with indie films and also partial to Scandinavian crime novels and TV series. And since most profiles here seem to include mention of animals, I must just say that my trilobite is part of the package. She's getting on a bit and is initially shy but friendly when you get to know her.
I'd love to hear from you if you find resonances in any of this. I've probably written a bit too much but it's not a tick list. Differences are bound to add extra spice(s)!
Well, here goes and here's hoping . . . .
