Hello out there!
My name is Richard and I currently live in Taunton in Somerset. Currently I drive coaches and buses for a crust, though through various parts of my life I have been a conservationist, a wwoofer, an ardent hitch-hiker, a disabled person's support worker, a gardener (I am really interested in forest gardening), a builder of low-impact dwellings of various kinds, a long-distance cyclist (think pack-donkey style rather than lycra-clad nutter), a mildly-committed anti-roads activist(looong time ago- don't really do politics with a capital P) , a wanderer, an ashram inmate. Ooh that last one sounds sketchy?! Lived in the woods for a year...
With my life in the past having always been something of a varied event I have always been able to rely on the right person coming along when the time was right. These days, work-life takes up a lot of time (saving up for a field and/or new-skill training), I don't really do pubs and clubs (I don't drink) so I thought I would give things a bit of a nudge along.
I have been single for the past three years. I have (mostly) enjoyed being single and having the chance to untangle life's dilemmas and rise to challenges on my own. I kinda feel like I have done that now, and don't really have too much to prove to myself right now that requires me to remain single, so: time for something new to happen!
I would like to meet someone who is comfortable in their own skin and is down-to-earth. Mostly (but not entirely), I would rather be planting experimental vegetables than spending the evening watching TV.
I enjoy thoughtful open-minded conversation and miss having someone around who I share the little intimate moments of life with; someone to wind down and spend the evening with at the end of the day, someone to invent and share little and big adventures with, someone to cuddle and someone to share ideas with.
These days, I feel like I have got to the stage in life where I am ready to settle down with someone that I can feel comfortable with and who feels comfortable with me.
I would like to cycle along the Rhine and Danube from Holland to Turkey in the Spring, either with one special lady and/or with a group of cyclists into camping in random fields alon the way with occasional hostel stops. Does that tickle your fancy?
Also at some point in my life I would like to visit India and possibly Nepal, Tibet etc. I have been to lots of places, but not here.
Apart from those things, I would like to live more out in the countryside more, with a balance of peace and quiet and there being active stuff going on around the place.
Well, thats my 'wishlist', and to some extent a wishlist needs to be a flexible fish; it is not the be-all and end-all; what really counts is what happens when two people meet; how we are face-to-face. We are all capable of being pleasantly surprised; any person is always much more than the sum of a few token qualities listed on a screen so I take my wishlist with a pinch of salt. As well as it being a flexible fish. May as well throw some chips on top while your there.
Right, I've started to witter now, and that is clearly the sign for me to go out and get some fresh air.
