I've made some big changes in my life in the last few years - I gave up a London-based career managing mental health services and moved up to Suffolk. I'm retraining as a therapist, slowly doing up my house, and I'm very active in my community. I have lots of friends and an active social life, I'm busy, positive, and have a good lifestyle. Which is all great, but I've realised lately that ideally I'd like to share my life with someone... a life partner, to share the ups and the downs, long term companionship being the agenda rather than a sexual relationship. I'm very independent, and the ideal someone would hopefully share some of my interests, but perhaps have others of his own.
Things I enjoy are walking, reading, eating out, gardens, my diverse circle of friends, the coast and countryside, proper pubs, cinema, theatre, live comedy, nature, yoga, architecture, my home. I'm not hugely interested in politics (rather cynical) but my inclinations are left wing. I'm a supportive, caring person to be with, and I'd like the same in return... Humour's important to me, I tend to enjoy the surreal and observational comedy. I like my food (quality rather than quantity), love eating out and cooking for people, and drinking wine. My dog and cat are important to me, so you'd need to like them! Also you should be reasonably well housetrained too!
If I'm at all typical, it's that a market researcher would quickly categorise me as a Guardian and Private Eye reading, Radio 4 listener - so although I say my search criteria are broad, I may as well say now that I exclude all racists, sexists, and homophobes.
I've not had children myself, but have had involvement with childrearing and enjoyed it, so I don't mind whether you do or don't have children - if you do, you should be a caring and involved parent.
My top three things I look for in people are kindness, humour (the dark/surreal/dry sort) and intelligence. For someone who may be a partner, I also want loyalty and honesty - trust's important, on both sides. I find piercings off-putting (although I don't mind an earring), and I'm not much of a fan of extensive tattoos either.
As well as having had a career I've also restored derelict period houses and been involved as business partner in small enterprises - I'm hoping to set up one of my own sometime soon.
I've done quite a bit of independent travelling in the past, from city breaks to longhaul trips, and could be interested to do this again, either overseas or just exploring the UK - the last few years I've just been focused on rebuilding my life in a new and better shape, so I haven't holidayed much.
I'm a broadminded, tolerant person so my search is quite wide - I don't care about your education, income, employment, background or how much/little hair you have; it's purely about finding the right "fit"
