I hope (!) I am a thoughtful, kind and interesting person. I really value my friends and enjoy spending time with them.
My interests lay firmly in the natural world. Having grown up on farmland in a lovely valley, I am most relaxed and at home outside. This led my going to college in my late 30’s to study countryside management. I have been involved in a number of local environmental projects which include 2 orchards, my current one is a very old, traditional orchard, which is really beautiful and environmentally rare (picture of an Elephant Hawk Moth on my hand above during our moth survey). Additionally, I set up our local village annual apple pressing event.
Having raised my son mainly on my own I am looking for new friendships and adventures. I have been looking at moving to Devon for the last couple of years, it is a lovely county where I started my studies back in 1998 and I have some friends there now and in Dorset. My son is now 22 and living independently, he is a tree surgeon. Much of my work during his childhood was as a TA in schools, including a specialist dyslexia school -my son is severely dyslexic. I also trained as a Forest School assistant.
Currently, I work on an allotment site with people with emotional health issues and teenagers and adults with special needs. I love working outside with people. They love my dog. It’s a win win!
I would really like to get out and about to see more music, in small venues. I like a range of music, First Aid Kit are great and I love their line “I want to go where there’s music and there’s laughter”. That would be good start. Would also like to do some mosaic, I did a little years ago and would really like to explore this more.
An extra project I have has been researching for is a book on traditional crafts and skills. There are some fascinating people out there and I believe many of these skills have an important part to play in the future.
On a personal note, I am interested in friendship and/or romance. I would like more company and to visit some more of this country, I enjoy Rural Life Museums and wood fairs. I consider honesty and openness important.
I have been trying to add more photos - unfortunately my Luddite tendencies have got in the way!
