Puff the Lego dragon lives by the sea!
01/11/2013
In 1997, nearly five million bits of Lego fell into the sea when the container ship the Tokio Express, bound for New York, was hit by a huge wave off Land’s End. Ironically most of the Lego pieces were sea related, (including Lego divers, sea grasses, and octopus). Also, included in the pieces were Lego dragons, which amazingly, after over 16 years at sea, they're still being washed up on Cornish beaches today.
Pieces have also been found on beaches as far away as America and the Arctic.
There is a fascinating page on this subject with pictures at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lego-Lost-At-Sea/531627403598358
It would be great to hear from any member who has found one of these 5 million pieces, so please leave a comment below.
